General Industrial
Polymer Science has many general purpose coating and adhesive solutions used in manufacturing processes and applications. Many of our foams, films and tapes are used within the automotive, aerospace, venting, filtration, sealing and structural bonding industries.
The products designed by Polymer Science include non-adhesive films, foams and coatings, transfer adhesives, single coated and double coated adhesives. Many of these products have general applications outside our P-DERM®, P-THERM® and P-SHIELD® materials. While these materials may not occupy a specific category within our catalog of products, our general industrial fabrics, tapes, adhesives and films serve many functions.
Adhesives
Many industries require adhesives. Polymer Science offers a wide range of rubber-based, acrylic and silicone pressure sensitive transfer adhesives. The transfer adhesives can be supplied as self-wound or supplied between two liners.
Polymer Science’s hybrid acrylic-rubber adhesive is exceptionally easy to manage. For applications with compact designs, these adhesives can be applied with precision. These materials are dry at room temperature and only adhere to themselves and other surfaces when heat is introduced.
Single Coated Film Tapes
Polymer Science has a long history of designing single coated medical tapes, thermal management and grounding & shielding tapes. We apply our vast knowledge to the design of our polyester, polyethylene, polyurethane, woven and nonwoven film tapes for general industry.
The flexibility and strength of polyester tapes has broad general industrial uses. Single coated film tapes on polyester carriers tolerate temperature and other environmental conditions. Our team will work with you to balance adhesion, shear and tack to suit your application.
Double Coated Film Tapes
Like single coated film tapes, Polymer Science has applied our experience and design from P-DERM®, P-THERM® and P-SHIELD® products to our general industrial double coated film tapes. Our double coated film tapes range widely in thickness and adhesive to suit your requirements.
Available as double coated acrylic on polyester support and silicone/acrylic trilaminate, our double coated tapes are highly versatile. These materials provide strong adhesion over the long term and bond to high and low surface energy substrates.
Films
For many industries, films provide durability and performance for extreme conditions. Polyurethane film and silicone rubber film withstand environments ranging from damp to dry, block light and other harsh conditions.
Many of these films designed for our P-DERM® and P-SHIELD® products serve other industries. If you need a film in your industry, our team will work with you to determine the best film to meet your requirements. Some of our popular films for general industrial use include a range of matte black polyurethane film, thermoplastic polyurethane and silicone rubber/polyester laminate.
Foams
Across multiple industries, nonconductive polyurethane and silicone foams provide a range of qualities including durability, sealing, weatherproofing and vibration dampening. There are many options in the design and properties of foam. Polymer Science designs foams for some of the most extreme conditions. Our team works with many different companies to find the ideal material for your application. Capable of withstanding wet and arid weather conditions, UV exposure and chemicals, non conductive foam materials remain elastomeric.
