Advanced Wound Care
Advanced wound care promotes the healing of complex or chronic wounds. These specialized treatment methods are used when injuries do not heal with standard wound care practices. Manufacturers and designers of advanced wound care dressings, devices and therapies use a comprehensive approach to wound healing. Since 1998, Polymer Science has designed and engineered innovations in skin contact adhesives.
Advanced surgical dressings, drapes, highly exudative wounds like diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) all benefit from Polymer Science materials. Our P-DERM® skin contact adhesive materials include a range of silicone, acrylic and non-adhesive materials to benefit advanced wound care.
Skin Contact Adhesives
Polymer Science prides itself on groundbreaking innovation in silicone gel and other skin contact materials. Our expertise as a silicone gel coater is especially beneficial for the advanced wound care market. Our materials include silicone gel adhesives, hydrogels and medical-grade acrylic adhesives. We offer a wide range of products to suit your needs. Since our P-DERM® materials are all manufactured in the United States, we are capable of quick response even for custom solutions.
Polymer Science Solutions in Negative Wound Pressure Therapy
Our experience as a leading supplier provides our partners access to proven materials for specific applications. For example, P-DERM® PS-1829 and PS-2151 help create optimal healing environments at the wound site in Negative Wound Pressure Therapy (NWPT).
- PS-1829 is a high-adhesion silicone gel adhesive tape for direct skin contact which has been coated onto a polyurethane carrier. PS-1829 was developed to bridge the gap between traditional silicone gel adhesives and silicone PSAs.
- PS-1874 is a silicone gel and acrylic trilaminate consisting of a high-adhesion silicone gel, polyurethane support and medical pressure-sensitive acrylic.
Both of these materials within our negative pressure wound therapy products encourage:
- Obstruction of channeling and tunneling
- Acceleration of wound healing times
- Reduction of erythema
- Granulation at the wound site
