Companies that contact Polymer Science quickly discover our staff is responsive, knowledgeable and can artfully create the best solution to suit your application.
Shielding and Grounding Materials
Many industries have used Polymer Science materials to solve EMI issues. Shielding and grounding may be resolved using conductive materials including fabrics, films, foams, foils and adhesives. As electronic designs become more compact, controlling interference and grounding requires quality products and experienced problem solvers. As more industries move from combustion engines to electric motors, shielding and grounding solutions will continue to evolve. Polymer Science engineers a wide variety of products and constantly researches new technologies and techniques to improve our customers’ experience.
P-SHIELD® Fabric Tapes
Conductive fabric tapes contour the housings of electronics. Despite this flexibility, fabric tapes are exceptionally strong and thin. P-SHIELD® fabric tapes are available in a wide range of adhesive profiles and thicknesses to suit many applications. Conductive textiles offer good conductivity in X, Y and Z axes. Corrosion free and flame resistant, cloth tapes are lightweight and durable solutions where space is limited.
Polymer Science offers a number of very popular fabric tapes for shielding and grounding with conductive acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives and heat-activated adhesives. Electrically conductive woven fabric tapes are offered in a number of colors including black conductive woven fabric depending upon the conductive components used within the construction. Polymer Science also designs ripstop fabric and gold-plated conductive fabric tape.
Conductive fabrics without adhesive are available. As a roll-to-roll supplier, Polymer Science affords clients quick responses and customizable solutions. If you need an electrically conductive fabric without adhesive, Polymer Science offers woven fabric, nonwoven fabric and ripstop fabric plated with combinations of nickel, copper, conductive carbon and gold.
P-SHIELD® Film Tapes
Providing durability in harsh conditions, conductive film tapes are versatile. Film provides chemical resistance, waterproofing, light blocking and tolerates high temperatures. Within complex design and in applications where space is constrained, the thickness and flexibility of film tape is beneficial. Acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) can be applied by hand or by automation processes. Our most popular product, Anisotropic Polyimide Film with Conductive Acrylic PSA, is a versatile and economic material for controlling interference and providing static dissipation.
P-SHIELD® Foil Tapes
Laminated with conductive acrylic PSA, copper foil and aluminum foil tapes provide an economical solution for EMI shielding. For applications where static discharge creates an issue, foil tapes are often preferred. Polymer Science has a wide variety of foil tapes including Black Conductive Copper Foil with Conductive Mesh and Conductive Acrylic PSA and Conductive Aluminum Foil with Conductive Acrylic PSA. Our engineers and designers are eager to discuss other tapes within our catalog including options with non-conductive acrylic adhesives.
P-SHIELD® Foam Tapes
For many electronic housings, conductive foam serves three purposes: to conduct electricity, fill gaps and protect components. Conductive foam provides good electric conduction in X, Y and Z axes. Foam is a highly compressible material that conforms to irregular surfaces, fills gaps and protects delicate electronic components. As a gap filler, foam tape absorbs shocks and provides some environmental protection for electrical components.
Polymer Science offers a number of conductive foam tapes including Electrically Polyolefin Foam with Conductive Acrylic PSA and Electrically Conductive Polyurethane Foam with Conductive Acrylic PSA. Our team works with you to identify the ideal foam and acrylic PSA to suit your processes.
Some of our business partners require conductive foams without adhesives. The characteristics of shock absorption and filling gaps suit many applications where a PSA is not ideal or an alternative adhesive is preferred. Available in a wide range of thicknesses, our team can work quickly to find the ideal conductive foam for your application. Two examples of our most popular products include PS-1321, Electrically Conductive Polyurethane Foam with Copper Foil Laminate and PS-1323, Soft Electrically Conductive Polyurethane Foam.
P-SHIELD® Conductive Adhesives
Electrically conductive adhesives are effective bonding solutions for electronic designs. Polymer Science-supported conductive adhesives provide excellent conductivity in all directions. As with many of our shielding and grounding materials, conductive adhesives are offered in a number of variations including Double Coated Conductive Acrylic PSA with Conductive Woven or Nonwoven Polyester Support and Electrically Conductive Heat Activated Adhesive.
P-SHIELD® Conductive Foam without Adhesives
Conductive foam without adhesive benefits a number of industries and applications. Polymer Science has engineered and designed adhesives, tapes and coating for decades. Our electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and grounding materials are utilized by companies of all sizes in industries including aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, electric vehicles and more. When you need a conductive foam or any other EMI shielding and grounding material, contact Polymer Science.
P-SHIELD® Conductive Fabrics
Conductive fabrics without adhesives are used in many industries including aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics and electric vehicles. As gasket materials, the quality of our conductive textiles is prized. Whether you are developing a new product or need to enhance an existing design, Polymer Science works with companies of all sizes to find solutions.
